God is amazing
I´m sorry I haven´t written in a long time but I´m still alive and doing amazing. God shows up here everyday; in the kids, the groups that come down here, and through nature. He is teaching me something new everyday. These kids down here are so happy with the little they have. I went to ERJ (one of the children´s homes). I met these two kids, Osvaldo and Jesus, the joy in their face is priceless. They take advantage of every moment in their life. Unlike me sometimes. Sometimes I just want to get through something instead of living through it. God uses every moment and it is usually the small moments, when he is least expected, that He tells you the most important stuff. The groups down here for the first week were Summit from Orlando, Florida and sacred heart from Ohio, I believe. I was able to be with Summit and they were all awesome people. We spent 3 days together at ERJ. Living in ERJ for 3 days showed me a lot. One of those things is how they all have a family realationship. Not blood but through Christ and they actually live that way. This past week was a very hectic but fun week. We had a group here out of Cincinatti, Ohio called the McCollum group. They had around 70 or 80 people come down. They would split up into 3 groups each day and work. Steve McCollum, the head of the group provides shirts and so many other things to the kids. He runs a soccer camp for all the kids. They all loved on the kids a lot. The group also does something that no other group does, and that is provide food for breakfast for Casa Hogar Douglas. They left every morning at 6:15 a.m. to go serve the kids breakfast. I went all but the first day. That experience for me will be engrained in my brain forever. These kids woke up every morning and were singing worship songs when we would arrive. They had the best smiles. Their smiles in the morning were so precious. They would look up at you with this beautiful grin of innocence and thankfullness on their face. During this time I got to know most of the Casa Hogar Douglas kids better. Two kids that stand out for me is Gerardo and Carlos two amazing kids. We have a new group coming tomorrow and then the next week starts. I´m having an awesome time down here. My cell phone doesn´t work here so I can´t receive text messages or phone calls. I want to wish all those dads reading my blog a Happy Father´s Day early. I thank all of those who supported me because this has been a very I opening experience.
